High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation

The aim of using HFOV is to reduce ventilator associated lung injury when high airway pressures and volumes in conventional ventilation modes are required to maintain adequate gas exchange. This very special mode of ventilation requires a solid understanding of lung physiology and gas flow techniques, and comes with a language all it’s own. In this course, you will learn the basics of this specialty approach, and take a look at HFOV as a rescue therapy. You will also have the opportunity to learn about HFOV from a physiologic standpoint, HFOV as primary therapy for ARDS, and look at HFOV as it relates to the adult patient.
