Providing safe and effective mechanical ventilation is among the most significant services that an RT department can provide. The aim of this course is to reinforce the basic building blocks and provide some insight on some of the more advanced techniques and maneuvers that an RT department can provide.
This course provides a video review of the effects of mechanical ventilation on the overall cardiopulmonary system. Too often, it happens that we place a patient on mechanical ventilation without a review of the consequence of positive pressure. Also included in this course is the history of mechanical ventilation, a discussion on the use of monitoring, ventilator alarm strategies, and extubation techniques. There is a short quiz after each topic, and ends with a final exam covering all aspects of the course.
