The use of nitric oxide has increased over the last number of years, especially during the peak of the COVID pandemic. While there are many anecdotal incidents where nitric oxide has been used to improve VQ mismatch and improve oxygen saturations, it is difficult to find solid evidence that using nitric oxide affects morbidity and mortality.
This course covers the various delivery systems, the use of nitric oxide in NICU and PICU, the basics of using inhaled vasodilators, and a protocol that may help to reduce the usage of this very expensive inhaled gas.
