The CoughAssist T70 removes secretions in patients with an ineffective ability to do so on their own. The device clears secretions by providing high frequency oscillatory
vibrations while gradually applying a positive pressure to the airway, then rapidly shifting to a negative pressure. The rapid shift in pressure produces a high expiratory flow rate from the lungs, simulating a natural cough. The air is delivered to and from the patient through the patient circuit, which includes a flexible tube, bacteria filter, and either a non-vented mask, mouthpiece, or an adapter to a tracheostomy or endotracheal tube.
